

Micro μ Festival is back
The International Micro μ Festival faithful to its autumn appointment with its audience, returns to the cinemas for the fourteenth year. From September 25st to 27th, the Micro μ will take its films on a journey to Athens, Veria, Rethymno, Rhodes, Copenhagen, and Paris.
The main event of IMμF 2025, its “live” Greek competition section will be screened on Saturday, September 25th simultaneously in the cities of this year’s network. After watching the 15 short films by Greek creators, the audience will vote for their favorite.
On the remaining days, viewers will have the opportunity to enjoy and choose their favorite Student Greek film in the now-established student section of Micro μ.Meanwhile, in the International section of the festival, will be able to watch selected international films from around the world.

SHORT SYNOPSIS

IMMF 2025 : THE PRELIMINARY PHASE
• Alexis Chatzigiannis: Director. He was born and raised in Kallithea. He studied Computer Engineering at the University of West Attica.He furthered his studies with an MSc degree at the University of the Aegean, in the department of Culture and Documentary Film Production. In recent years, he has been working in film and television production in the directing department, both in documentaries and fiction.His films have been screened and awarded at Greek and international festivals. His latest film "To Read Them Poems" received the title of Favorite Film at Micro μ in 2022 and was distinguished in dozens of festivals in Greece and abroad. He is currently preparing his next film in co-production with EKKOMED and Microfilm.


• Ioanna Kryona : Director. Ioanna studied Film Studies and History of Arts at the FreieUniversitätin Berlin. 2015 she completed her first short film, POSTHEIMAT, which premiered at the Drama Intl. Short Film Festival.Her third short VATHIKOFTO (2021) was received funding by the Public Broadcaster ERT S.A. and by the Greek Film Centre. The film had its national premiere at the Drama Intl. Short Film Festival and its international one at the Gijon Intl. Film Festival. Her feature film project BASALT (in development) received treatment funding by the Greek Film Centre and participated at the MFI SCRIPT 2 FILM WORKSHOPS 2020/2021.Ioanna has work experience as a programmer and served for three years as a Head of Programming at Berlin’s Greek Film Festival Hellas Filmbox and as an Artistic Director (2018). 2017 she curated the international competition program of the Duhok International Film Festival taking place in the region of Iraqi Kurdistan. Since 2016 she works as a script advisor and reader having provided consultancy and reviews on a variety of international feature film projects for both private companies and public funding institutions such as the Greek Film Centre. She has worked for film and series projects in the field of coordination, as well as in distribution as a PR agent. 2019/2020 she got selected to participate at the German Film Academy’s DFFB training for film professionals NEXT WAVE, where she developed CINEsymposium, a training platform for festival curators, launched at Marché du Film 2020, Cannes Next. In September 2022 she participated with her first series project at the Directing Drama Series workshops by the Munich Film & TV Academy HFF. In June 2023 she was a fellow of the Oxbelly Episodic Program, a lab for series writing,initiated and founded by Faliro House Productions. 2025 she is completing her forth short film, PLANET BALCONY, that received funding by the Hellenic Film and Audiovisual Center - Creative Greece.
• Ioanna Petinaraki :Producer. Ioanna has graduated from the Film Studies Department of the AUTHThessalonikiand she is working as a producer. She is a Talents Sarajevo & IDFA academy alumna. In 2017she started her own production company under the name "Moving Rooster Productions”. In2018 the feature documentary "Back to the top", which she produced with the support of the Greek Film Centre, had its world premiere at 20thThessaloniki Documentary Festival, where it won the Fischer Audience Award and the ERT Award. She has also received a grant as an artist supporting her work, from the NGO “Art-Works", supported by the SNF (Stavros Niarchos Foundation). Her films have participated and received awards in festivals such as Holly Shorts, Clermont Ferrand,POFF Shorts, Sarajevo Film Festival, Palm Springs Short Fest and Drama International Short Film Festival.


• Michael Demetrius:Director. Born in 1989, Michael Demetrius holds a Master’s degree in Theatrical Studies, specializing in Acting and Directing, Magister Artium with honors from the Open University of Cyprus (2019). He graduated with a B.A. in Film Studies from the University of Greenwich, UK, also with honors, having first a Certificate in Film & Television Studies from New York College, Athens Campus. In 2020 Michael acted as assistant professor to Ana SanzMagallon at the Mediterranean Film Institute (MFI) for script and project development. Michael’s filmography is focusing on intrafamily relationships through socio-economic crisis by interconnecting and linking views, fears and hopes of the human soul. He is dedicated to the development and production of films, documentaries, and television series with a strong artistic gaze, addressing audiences worldwide. Michael directed the 16-episodes documentary series, «ΧωρίςΕρώτηση»/ “Without Question” (2016-2017), first shown on ERT2 (National Broadcaster). The personality and the history of each invitee is revealed nonstop – without a question – by using the technique of one-take. His films have won awards at many international Film Festivals.
• Simos Kiparissopoulos:Actor and Founder of the Micro μ Festival. He was born in Thessaloniki in March 1975. After attending the School of Technological Applications of the educational institute of Piraeus, he dealt with art. In 2005 he graduated from the Drama School of G. Theodossiades in Athens and he began practicing as an actor in theater, television and cinema. At the same time, since 2007, he has been working on the production and organization of artistic events and plays in Athens. Since 2011 he has been the manager of KATOPRON SA, through which he created the Micro μ short film festival, which is held for the last nine years in Greece and abroad. He is a member of the Hellenic Actors' Association and quite active in the field despite his continuοus involvement in the festival.
