IMμF 2022

A Film Festival «live» in nine cities

Voting on October

The International Micro μ Festival sets its appointment with the audience for the 12th time. From October 13th to 16th, your favorite film festival will take place simultaneously to Athens, Thessaloniki, Rhodes, Heraclion, Xanthi, Veroia, Ptolemaida, Copenhagen and Paris.

The main section of IMμF 2022, the “live” Greek Competition Section, will take place on Saturday October 15th simultaneously at 9 Greek cities and abroad, inviting the audience to watch 15 short films and vote for their favorite.

The rest of the days, the audience in some of the cities of our network will have the chance to watch and vote for the second time their favorite Student short film at the Student Section of Microμ and of course the European short films with Greek premieres in the International Section of the festival

“The incredible Lien Mourlen” is a seven-minute CG-animated film, about how cosmic forces can influence the reality. Accidental or fatal chain reactions, that we do not know, can change everything for the better. A peaceful and kind lady Lien Mourlen receives a coveted letter and heads to the dock. When a sudden storm prevents the ships from arriving, Mourlen lets the letter picked up by the wind, until it travels in the sky. But, when the moon wakes up, everything will change.

SYNOPSIS

Angelos’ anger and compulsionto validate his beliefs, lead to the loss of his friends in a series of phone calls. The spark is apunctured tire, which he attributes to an organized profit maximization scheme of the local repair shop. Triggered by this incident, he unfolds his views on the phone to his friends about various conspiracies that he believes in and which plague the world, bringing him into conflict with the rational views of his friends. From the solidarity fund that Greece has allegedly accumulated to the chemtrails conspiracy, and from the existence of the Reptilians and the Hollow Earth theoryto the visits of extraterrestrial civilizations on Mount Penteli,Angelos also reveals his pagan devotion to the Dodecatheon and his devoutness to the supremacy of the Hellene as a god-sent species bySirius. Everybody believes that he's irrational which is quite true. But, are all he thinks totally irrational?

Lexi has glossed over life without deep commitments or attachments. She joins the online dating world as a fun and easy way to meet people and spend her few nights in town. But what appears to be an exciting journey, soon becomes a draining loop. "Nexting" explores human connection, relationships, timing or rather the lack of the above as well as the question of how present we can actually be when we are constantly thinking about what better is hiding around the corner.

The filmmaker of the winner film will be awarded with 1.000 € offered by the Greek Film Centre αnd free rental rights for for equipment and post production services, worth 1.000 € from RGB studios for his/her next production.

IMμF 2022 : THE PRELIMINARY PHASE

The Open Call of International Micro μ Festival 2022 is now over. The organizing committee would like to thank all the filmmakers who entrusted IMMF once again with their films. The huge number of submissions presages for this year one unforgettable cinematic experience for our audience.

All of the short films, are already available to the members of our jury. The fifteen films that will be selected to be screened and compete for the audience vote in live screening on Saturday October, 15 to all the cities of IMμF 2022 network, will be announced soon.

In the mean time, we will announce the titles of the short films of our International Section as well as our Student Section that will be held for the second time. The Festival will take place from 13 to 16 of October.

The jury committee of the IMMF 2022 is composed of:



Vivian Papageorgiou: Director. She has a PhD in Cinema Studies (University of Athens), a Master’s Degree in Audiovisual & Cinema (Nouvelle Sorbonne Paris III), a Degree in TV & Cinema Directing (Stavrakos Cinema School, Athens), English Literature (Aristotle University, Thessaloniki) and Interior Design (Dimitrelis School of Arts). She is a Sarajevo Film Festival talent alumni (2016) and her script “Hansel” was at the Pitch Lab of the same festival. In 2018, her script “Lost & Found” won the Greek Film Academy Award at the Short Film Fund competition. She is working at the University of Athens, she has created six short films so far that the three of them where screened in past editions of Micro μ. On 2020, she was awarded as “Best Director” for the film “Hansel”. She is now in development of her first feature documentary.



George Chrisovitsanos:Writer / Film Critic. He was born on 1947 and started watching films from his buggy. His passion for the cinema was so overpowering that he quitted the Law school in order to learn lots of interesting things from the masters of Cinema at London Film School (today International London Film School). He graduated as a filmmaker, and participated in lots of student films as a director, writer, camera operator, editor and sound editor. He is member of the Team of Four, co-creator in documentary film “New Parthenon” with subject the hellholes of Makronissos and Gyaros, which was deified by Thessaloniki Film Festival on 1975. After a short service on Tv documentaries, the collaboration with magazines/newspapers and the translation of movie subtitles, he worked as film critic in the newspaper “Ethnos” and in the magazines “ELLE”, “STATUS” and «7 DAYS TV». The big professional change happened on 1993, when he started writing scripts for huge television successes as “Moiraio Pathos”, “Dilimmata”, “Trikymia” and “Mavros Okeanos”. Continuing on the next, as it is the title of his personal collection of short stories, that was published from YAKINTHOS publications, on 1983.



Michael Demetrius:Director. Born in 1989, Michael Demetrius holds a Master’s degree in Theatrical Studies, specializing in Acting and Directing, Magister Artium with honors from the Open University of Cyprus (2019). He earned a B.A. in Film Studies from the University of Greenwich, UK, also with honors, having first a Certificate in Film & Television Studies from New York College, Athens Campus. In 2020 Michael acted as assistant professor to Ana Sanz Magallon at the Mediterranean Film Institute (MFI) for script and project development. Michael’s filmography is focusing on intrafamily relationships through socio-economic crisis by interconnecting and linking views, fears and hopes of the human soul. He is dedicated to the development and production of films, documentaries, and television series with a strong artistic gaze, addressing audiences worldwide. Michael directed the 16-episodes documentary series, «Χωρίς Ερώτηση», “Without Question” (2016-2017), first shown on ERT2 (National Broadcaster). His films have won awards at many international film festivals including Micro μ’s first award on 2020 for his film “Cloud”.



Simos Kiparissopoulos:Actor and Founder of the Micro μ Festival. He was born in Thessaloniki in March 1975. After attending the School of Technological Applications of the educational institute of Piraeus, he dealt with art. In 2005 he graduated from the Drama School of G. Theodossiades in Athens and he began practicing as an actor in theater, television and cinema. At the same time, since 2007, he has been working on the production and organization of artistic events and plays in Athens. Since 2011 he has been the manager of KATOPRON SA, through which he created the Micro μ short film festival, which is held for the last seven years in Greece and abroad. He is a member of the Hellenic Actors' Association and quite active in the field despite his continuοus involvement in the festival.
