Micro μ Festival – Educational Screenings

Chapter 1: “Growing Up Under Pressure”

Micro μ, the longest-running independent short film festival in Greece, is launching its educational programs and introducing a series of screenings addressed to middle and high school students.

During the screenings, the art of cinema is combined with guidance from specialized psychologists on specific thematic topics. Students watch the short films and then take part in a live discussion with the filmmakers and psychologists, initiating a creative dialogue around issues that concern adolescents.

This educational initiative by Micro μ focuses on four thematic areas. The first, which will mark the beginning of the program, is titled “Growing Up Under Pressure” and includes films that explore the social, family, and school expectations placed on young people, such as the need for success, acceptance, and adaptation, as well as the anxiety of “being enough.”

The film selection was curated by the Festival’s Film Programmer, Orestis Rouskas, who, drawing on the festival’s rich film archive as well as new films that will be screened for the first time, created a unique screening program. The program offers students the opportunity to connect their personal experiences with the power of cinematic storytelling and to cultivate social and emotional intelligence skills.
